Private Party (11 April 2014)

Good food always go with good wine and good wine must drink with good friends.
It was a beautiful evening to spend time gathering with some close friends. The party was wonderful, happy faces all around and we can't deny that the alcohol did a good job in bringing the evening to next level.
Here are the victims for the night. 7 person and 7 bottles killed.

Fesles Rosé d'Anjou 2011
Château de Fesles, Saumur, France
Main Varietal: Grolleau, Gamay
Ratings: 3.5 stars; 89pts

Strawberry jam and grape juice on the nose lead nicely into a almost sweet palate that finishes nicely dry.

Delheim Stellenbosch Rosé Pinotage 2011

Delheim Cellar, Stellenbosch, South Africa
Main Varietal: Pinotage, Muscat de Frontignan
Ratings: 3.0 stars; 87pts

Not as fragrant as I would have expected. Pinotage power on palate so not delicate and a hint of bitterness as it warms up. Would need food to shine.

Lou Roumanin Côtes De Provence 2012
Lou Roumanin, Provence, France

Ratings: 3.0 stars; 87pts

A simple well made well priced rose with nice persistence on the end.

Moët & Chandon, Champagne, France
Main Varietal: Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier
Ratings: 4.0 stars; 92pts

Complex and drinking at its best. Less than brisk being a 2003 but nice length.

Bernadotte Haut-Médoc Grand Vin2002
Château Bernadotte, Bordeaux, France
Main Varietal: MerlotCabernet SauvignonPetit Verdot
Ratings: 3.5 stars; 90pts

11 year old magnum offering an alluring and mature expression of uncomplicated bordeaux at it best (in my humble opinion).

Boekenhoutskloof The Chocolate Block Western Cape Syrah Cabernet Sauvignon Grenache Cinsault Viognier 2012
Boekenhoutskloof, Western Cape, South Africa
Main Varietal: Shiraz/Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon,Grenache Noir, Viognier, Cinsault
Ratings: 4.0 stars; 92pts

Big and complex. Fruit forward. Cassis and plum notes with coffee and spice. Develops chocolate like texture on nose and palate as it opens. Aptly named.

Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon 2011

Boekenhoutskloof, Coastal, South Africa
Main Varietal: Cabernet Sauvignon
Ratings: 4.5 stars; 93pts

Big ripe dense creamy cassis notes flow from nose to palate and almost refusing to end. Exquisite partner to the juicy aged medium-rare rib-eye slowly disappearing from my plate. 3 years young and with much life left (also with reference to the 2004 consumed some months back)

Chateau la Tour Carnet, Haut-Médoc in France
Main Variental: Cabernet Sauvignon , Cabernet Franc, Merlot

A good bordeaux though not particularly intense or complex. Almost mature but not sure if further development of secondary notes would counter-balance further loss of fruit.
